It Is Finished–366 Days of Self-Portraits

Project complete. A self-portrait a day for all 366 days of 2016. I’d like to thank Vivienne McMaster for the inspiration. Actually, I take that back. I’ve never understood why we say “I’d like to thank” instead of simply “I thank.” I’m probably splitting hairs but it implies that I want to thank her yet can’t for some reason. I thank Vivienne McMaster for the for the inspiration. I thank all of you who followed the journey over the past year.

If you read my previous post you can appreciate how much it pleases me that this project ended with my worst photographic work but my best emotional work of the year. I’m proud I grew into someone who can respect the difference between producing images of wellness and embodying the images of wellness. And proud to recognize the relevance of both. The greatest gains in wellness were realized in the least palatable parts of the process. That irony, for me, is an abiding insight and a resonant thing of beauty.
